DENIM AND DIAMONDS

APRIL 11, 2008

Don’t forget to mark you calendars for our Denim and Diamonds Spring Dinner and Auction, Friday, April 11, 2008 at Monterra at Westworld. We can always use your help with items to put in the auction:  Spa packages, golf outings, tennis lessons, weekend get-a-ways, beauty products, family fun outings, etc.  No item is too small—we can make some fabulous baskets from your single donation.  Please contact Mindy Hess at mindyhess@cox.net for more information.

Change From the Heart

Please help the student council in its support of this worthy cause, by sending in loose change with your child.  Donations will be accepted in each classroom from January 28-February 8.  All proceeds will go to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (parentprojectmd.org) to aid in the search for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  Duchenne is a degenerative neuromuscular disorder that affects approximately 1 boy in every 3,000, one of them being Augie Chotkowski, a 5th grade student in Mrs. Quisberg's class here at Laguna.

Congratulations Laguna Scouts!

Laguna boy scouts have been selected to serve as the Color Guard for the 2008 Parada del Sol parade on Saturday, February 23rd. They will be leading the parade in the number one position! It is a great honor and privilege to lead this historic parade. Mark your calendars now and plan on cheering the boys on.

Car Line Reminders:

·         Pull as far forward as possible in the student drop off and pick up lanes.

·         For the safety of Laguna children, please do not use cell phones while in the car line.

·         Cross only at the designated crosswalk.

Thank you for your cooperation!

A+ TEACHERS AND STAFF

Parents Teacher Appreciation Week is Feb. 11th-15th.  The PTO has a week full of fun and delicious surprises for our teachers and staff.  Please join us in celebrating our A+ teachers and staff.  Contact your room parent for more detailed information.  If you would like to help volunteer for this week, please contact  Stephanie Murphy at stephmurph@cox.net

Thank You for Participating

Kids Credit Campaign was very successful thanks to your contributions of $66,000. Science Club, Runners Club, Tutoring, Strings, Band, Chorus, and other after school programs will continue without a student fee because of your generosity. Kids Credit, which is NOT a PTO donation, can be claimed on your tax return as a credit. If you don’t understand tax credit verses PTO donation then call Dr. Root who can help explain the differences to you. You should be receiving your money back as soon as you file your tax return. Way to go on a win-win situation for everyone!
